  • As our name suggest, we have a long history of building some of the best bulk blower vehicles in the UK. We specialise in plank aluminium construction bulk bodies which offer tremendous strength and durability combined with easy to maintain smooth sides to the vehicle and a very clean appearance.

There are a magnitude of different options available, such as different tailboard configurations, partition and lock positions, pipe-racks, access ladders and platforms, tipping gear, weighers, blowers and rotary Feeders etc. We are able to build your bulker to your exact requirements on numerous types of chassis including Tridems.

  • As with our bulk blowers, we specialise in smooth sided plank construction for durability and strength. Various tipping ram options are available including underfloor and we can fit roll-over type sheeting systems or the“flip and go” front to back type.

Tailboard options can either be one piece or split, and hung from the rear arch or corner post mounted dumb bells, or barn doors hung from the rear corner posts.

As with all of our products, we can build to your exact specification.

  • We can build drop side bodies in a whole host of different shapes and sizes. These can range from small 3.5T bodies on Transit style chassis’ to 32T gross 8x4 chassis, or even 44T tri-axle trailer chassis.

All 3.5T gross tipping bodies come with chassis re-enforcing subframe and Electro Hydraulic Underfloor Tipping gears.  All 7.5T gross to 32T gross vehicles use front end Tipping gears operated by a gearbox mounted P.T.O/Pump.

Options on the variety of body are endless; the specification is individually designed to suit your requirements.

Floors are constructed from a variety of materials and thicknesses – aluminium sheet, aluminium plank, steel sheet or wooden composite board. Sideboards can either be pressed steel or aluminium or plank aluminium. Sideboards can be made to any height the customer requires.

  • Having built Livestock Containers at Thorne Works for over 50 years we feel we have the required know-how to construct some of the best containers around. We build 3 different styles of Container.

The first is built in a traditional style. This style (barring a few minor alterations) has continued from the J.H.Thorne days. The container sides are constructed using flat Aluminium sheets, welsh lady pillars and huckbolt fixings. The Decks are constructed from aluminium treadplate and can be folding or sliding design. The roofs are built using a 1 piece extruded top-rail section, top hats and Aluminium roof coil sheeting. The majority of our floors and ramps are made from aluminium treadplate, but with most aspects of our bodies, the final choice is down to the customer.

The second style of container is built in a more modern looking style. It is constructed using pressed Aluminium sections with pillars at 8-10’ intervals. The pressed sections are strengthened and welded on the inside, and bolted together – creating a smooth sided appearance. The pressings give the sides the strength required to be some of the strongest containers on the market. The roof of a pressed container is constructed in a different way to our traditional boxes. These are pressed into 4’ sections and bolted to an ultra-strong top rail.

Lastly we build aluminium plank-sided containers which have all the advantages of our other plank-side products including a smooth clean easy to maintain design combined with strong and robust construction.

All ironwork is galvanized where possible. Ironwork that can’t be galvanized is primed and top coated to ensure that rusting and deterioration is kept to a minimum.

  • Remounting and reconditioning older bodies on to new chassis is a major part of our business. A typical example of this would be the remounting of bulk blowing bodies and the refurbishment or replacement of the discharge gear, tipping gear and the body its self, resulting in an effectively as-new vehicle. This can be a very cost effective way to move onto a new, more reliable and compliant vehicle without the cost of building a new body from scratch.

  • We are contractors in the field of vehicle body assembly. If you require a final assembly route for your project please give us a call. We can provide a final assembly and IVA service for most commercial vehicle projects such as mixers and mortar pods.

  • These range from curtainsider/grandstands used for events such as film premiers and polo matches, to mobile entertainment display units used at horticultural shows and music festivals.

At Bulkrite we like a challenge and so if you require something unusual and unique, we will endeavor to design and build a body to meet your requirements.
